GB Women's football team drawn to face Japan, Canada and Chile at Tokyo 2020 Olympics

Hege Riise will take the GB Women's football squad to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics in July

The GB Women's football team will take on Japan, Canada and Chile at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games football tournament.

With 28 teams involved in the draw on Wednesday morning, held at FIFA's headquarters in Zurich, both the men's and women's tournament groups were drawn.

The draw was made by former internationals Lindsay Tarpley of the USA and New Zealand's Ryan Nelsen, who have both previously represented their nations at previous Olympic football tournaments.

And Hege Riise's squad were drawn out in Group E alongside the host nation, Canada and Chile for their initial group games at the tournament, which will be held at the Sapporo Stadium. Fixture dates will be confirmed in due course.

The GB Women's team qualified for the Olympics by virtue of England's performance at the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup, when they finished fourth in France.

The draw

Group E: Japan, Canada, Great Britain, Chile

Group F: China PR, Brazil, Zambia, Netherlands

Group G: Sweden, USA, Australia, New Zealand
