Travel advice for England fans attending Norway v England

We have put together a brief travel guide for Lionesses fans attending the Norway v England match next month. Tickets are still available to purchase in the dedicated 'England end' of the ground, however you will need to print these out before you arrive at the stadium. 

The last time England faced Norway was at this summer's World Cup quarter final in Le Havre. Goals from Ellen White, Jill Scott and Lucy Bronze secured England's place in the semi final against the USA. This time,those featuring in Phil Neville's line-up will have the opportunity to stake a claim for the Team GB squad at next summer's Olympics.

Passports & visas
If you hold a British passport you don’t need a visa to enter Norway, however, please ensure there’s at least three months left on it. 

Money
The currency of Norway is Kroner (NOK). Norway can be expensive in comparison to some areas of the UK so make sure you have access to plenty of money. Credit cards are not so widely accepted in supermarkets and petrol stations so ensure you carry cash with you. 

Safety and security
To contact the emergency services in Norway, call 110 (fire, 112 (police) or 113 (ambulance).

Crime levels are low in Norway however there is a risk of petty theft, particularly in airports and railway stations. Remain alert when walking back to your hotel at night and stick to main roads and well-lit areas. Whilst in Norway please take care of yourself and your belongings in the same way you would do in the UK. Report any thefts to police within 24hrs of the incident occurring and get a crime reference number. For more safety and security advice in Norway, please visit the FCO website. 

Health
If you haven’t already done so, the FCO recommend getting a free European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) before leaving for Norway. The EHIC entitles you to state-provided medical treatment. It’s also important to take out comprehensive travel insurance that includes cover for emergency medical treatment and in the event your belongings are stolen. Travel insurance can also cover you in the event your flights are cancelled.

Getting around Bergen
Bergen is a city in Norway’s southwestern coast. It’s surrounded by mountains and picturesque fjords including Sognefjord which is the country’s longest and deepest. 

Around 10% of the population of Bergen are students, giving the city a fresh and youthful vibe. There are plenty of pubs, museums, craft shops and coffee shops to visit in Bergen - especially Bryggen which is a World Heritage town containing rows of red buildings. If you have time, you can also get the Urliken cable car up to the top of Ulriken Mountain to get a panoramic view of the city and surrounding mountains. 

THINGS TO DO IN BERGEN

Stadium

Brann Stadion was constructed in 1919 and has been the home of Brann FC ever since. The stadium is about two miles from the city centre and located at the foot of Mount Ulriken. 

The stadium is easy to get to from the city centre, just catch the NW420 bus from Bergen bus station (Busstasjon) and alight at Haukeland sjukehus, walking the remaining 800m to the ground. You can also catch the tram from Bybanen and alighting at Brann Stadion. 

PUBLIC TRANSPORT ROUTES

If you're going straight to the match from the airport, shuttle buses are available from the arrival terminal. Alternatively taxis are available from the airport - the journey takes approximately 25 minutes

Disabled parking bays are available at the stadium - please use Sparebanken Vest-Tribune. If you need to find out more about disabled parking please contact post@vestpark.no. It's important to note that supporters cannot park in Fjordkraft (South) stand on matchday. The Norwegian FA have advised that anyone parking there will be fined. 

England fans who purchased tickets in blocks A and B can enter the ground via Gate 5 which is located in Fjordkraft (South) stand. Turnstiles will open two hours before kick-off. If you wish to hang you flags, please arrive early to do so and ensure that your flag is made from non-flammable material. Stewards may inspect your flag before allowing you to hang it up to ensure there are no offensive or political messages displayed. 

Please do not take large bags or backpacks to the ground; bottles, cans and glasses (including water bottles) will not be permitted inside. Smoking and vaping is not permitted inside the stadium. Please be considerate of your fellow fans by refraining from persistent standing. 

We don't anticipate a hold-back at the end of the match, however please listen to stadium announcements throughout the match.
