Jose Mourinho said his track record of winning silverware will have no bearing on the outcome of the Emirates FA Cup Final.

The Manchester United boss will lead his team out at Wembley against his former club Chelsea.

The Portuguese has won 12 cup competitions during a distinguished managerial career, including the League Cup and Europa League in his first season at Old Trafford.

However, Mourinho believes his own personal record will have no impact on Saturday.

He said: “I think the winning mentality doesn't have to do with records or history in finals.

“I honestly think what we did in the past has nothing to do with tomorrow and the records don't matter.

“What matters is 11 against 11 and everybody trying to give their best.”

With three or more goals having been scored on just three occasions in the past 13 meetings between Chelsea and United, many are predicting another close encounter under the arch.

Mourinho added: “I still don't understand these words of 'entertaining'. You think 6-0 is entertaining? I don't think so.

“I think entertaining is emotion until the end, it's the open result until the end, it's everybody on their seats until the end.

“Both dugouts nervous and tense with the unpredictability of the result - that for me as a football lover is entertaining, so I think so it's going to be entertaining.”

The late Ray Wilkins, so fondly thought of by fans of both Chelsea and Manchester United, will be honoured at Saturday’s Final.

Wilkins was a winner of the competition as a United player, scoring a memorable goal in the 1983 Final, and also as an assistant manager of Chelsea in 2000, 2009 and 2010.

His wife Jackie will present the trophy from the Royal Box to the winners at full-time.

“Very emotional moment for Mrs Wilkins, all the family and his sons," Mourinho said.

“I believe Ray will be looking at it and enjoying it. I know how much he was loved at Chelsea and I know how much he was loved at Manchester United.

“It’s a coincidence that the two clubs are playing the final but it will be a moment that unites the stadium and a beautiful moment.”

Mourinho revealed that Anthony Martial is fit to play but he was unsure whether Romelu Lukaku would have recovered from the ankle injury sustained in United’s victory over Arsenal last month.
