The FA Futsal Cup Finals take place across the weekend of 16 and 17 June

The FA Futsal Cup Finals take place this weekend as the best teams in both the men’s and women’s game head to Walsall for two days of action.

With the draw taking place earlier this week for Saturday’s semi-final games at the University of Wolverhampton’s Walsall Campus Sports Centre, the fixtures promise to provide Futsal fans with an action packed weekend of games.

The men’s quarter finals last weekend saw a big shock as non-National Futsal League side Grimsby Town FC Futsal knocked out Durham FC to secure their place in the last four.

Grimsby had already sprung a big Cup shock in the previous round when they beat Sussex Futsal Club and they will now take on former winners and Superleague giants Helvecia on Saturday.

The second semi-final of the men’s competition sees Superleague winners Reading Escolla face Birmingham Futsal Club, who after finishing in fourth place in the Superleague this year should not be dismissed, especially with the event taking place in their hometown which will surely bring in some local support.

In the women’s competition, recreational side The Has Beens have a huge task on their hands as they face the FA National Women’s Futsal League Champions and current FA Futsal Cup holders South London Ladies.

The side from Newcastle-upon-Tyne play in a local County FA Futsal league as a group of friends, who meet up once a week for games and play purely for fun.

Their opponents are at the opposite end of the spectrum and will be looking to make history and do the double, going into the weekend on the back of their National League win.

Our second semi-final in the women’s competition sees two more local sides compete for the final spot with Loughborough Futsal Club Women taking on BUCS side, from the University of Birmingham. Another game that will hopefully attract local support and provide an atmosphere for what will be for some, the biggest Futsal event they have ever played in.

On Sunday 17 June between 10am and 1pm, a round-robin event featuring some of the country’s top young Futsal players will take place with England U19 taking on a Regional Talent Centre Select Team and the newly-formed Emerging Talent Group.

The FA Futsal Cup Finals will follow this, with the women’s final taking place at 2.30pm and the men’s at 4.30pm.

Entry for spectators is free and the games will be streamed live for those who wish to watch at home
