Marc Guehi opened the scoring and it was 3-0 at half-time, with Tino Anjorin and Martell Taylor-Crossdale rounding off the scoring – Chelsea will face Tottenham Hotspur in the fifth round proper.

Thirteen of the fourth round proper ties are now concluded, with Spurs also in the goals in their 3-0 win away at Bournemouth on Tuesday night.

Prolific hitman Reo Griffiths hit a brace and a stoppage-time strike from Rayan Clarke put the result beyond doubt for Spurs, with Paris Maghoma hitting the bar and substitute Tashan Oakley-Boothe also seeing an effort cleared off the line.

Elsewhere on Tuesday there was an exceptional match between Charlton and Reading, with the two sides fighting into extra time before a stunning winner at Park View Road.

Charlton’s Albie Morgan opened the scoring from the penalty spot and Jordan Holsgrove equalised on the stroke of half time, before the Addicks opened up a two-goal lead in the second half thanks to Samuel Nwosu and Alex Willis.

Samuel Faniyan then got the Royals back in it before Holsgrove crucially made it 3-3 in the 94th minute, leaving Reading’s Danny Loader to do the rest with his winner in extra time.

In a round full of drama, penalties were required in the east-Midlands tie between Nottingham Forest and Leicester City after a thrilling game.

Reds captain Riley Harbottle saw red after just 21 minutes and Simran Thandi then put the Foxes 1-0 up, before Brennan Johnson levelled on 62 minutes.

Despite playing the majority of the match with ten men, Forest dug deep and came through extra-time to take it to penalties, where they eventually triumphed 5-4.

Meanwhile, Blackburn Rovers beat Watford 2-0 to progress, Fulham secured a 2-0 win over Swansea and Norwich delivered a superb extra-time performance against Derby County to win 4-2.

Crystal Palace will host Newcastle on Friday night and Arsenal travel to Liverpool for their fourth round proper tie on Saturday, with the fifth round proper due to commence on Saturday 10 February.
