As Fantasy Premier League gets underway, we assess England's top performers

Tottenham Hotspur and England midfielder Dele Alli was among the highest scorers in Fantasy Premier League's gameweek one

After gameweek one of the popular Fantasy Premier League game, Spurs and Three Lions midfielder Dele Alli was among the top performers.

Over 5m football fans are signed up for this season’s competition and we’ll be keeping tabs on the best English performers across the campaign.

Those of you who had Dele in your team were rewarded with nine points, after his goal in Spurs’ 2-1 victory over Newcastle United at St. James’ Park where he featured for 79 minutes.

And with his latest goal celebration causing quite a stir in social media circles ever since, will Dele keep his place in your team as Spurs prepare to face Fulham at home on Saturday?

Other notable performances came from Luke Shaw, who was the highest-scoring English defender after his goal for Manchester United in their 2-1 victory over Leicester City in the Friday evening fixture.

England were well represented in the goalkeeping stakes too, with Southampton’s Alex McCarthy taking his chance in the their line-up to make six saves, keep a clean sheet and earn bonus points against Burnley to be the highest-scoring stopper last week. At just £4.5m to purchase for managers, he proved good value by yielding 11 points.

Looking ahead to gameweek two, below are the fixtures to look out for…

Saturday 18 August
Cardiff City v Newcastle United
Everton v Southampton
Leicester City v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Tottenham Hotspur v Fulham
West Ham United v AFC Bournemouth
Chelsea v Arsenal

Sunday 19 August
