Sporting heritage and team spirit flowed through St. George’s Park at a recent conference held for national plumbing trader Plumbase.

The first-of-its-kind event for the business welcomed more than 250 staff, suppliers and partners for its one-day ‘Inspire Conference’, which aimed to generate excitement and drive the business forward in 2017.

The future plans for the brand, which supplies heating, plumbing, bathrooms, showers and boiler spares to professional trade installers online and across stores in the UK, were showcased to attendees through a series of speeches, presentations and workshops while guests were encouraged to get involved on social media.

The theme of the conference saw the creation of a specially-designed Plumbase crest with the tagline ‘inching towards success’, which was featured across the event decoration and merchandise including scarves, mugs and awards that were presented to staff recognised for their hard work in 2016

Former England rugby union player and coach Sir Clive Woodward, who managed the England team to victory in the 2003 Rugby World Cup, joined the event as keynote speaker, offering insight into the traits of champions and comparing them to teams and leadership in business.

Andy Williams, Plumbase's managing director, said: "I really wanted a venue and setting to inspire positive and proactive thinking in our teams as we look to drive our business to further success. The Hilton and St. George’s Park provided that venue and setting and we have had fantastic feedback from everyone involved."

Sir Clive Woodward added: "It was a pleasure to speak at the Plumbase national conference.  A quality event and great to see sport being used as the backdrop to inspire all those that attended."

This unique site has already hosted 2,300 conferences and events for clients including the Premier League, BT, Nike, Continental, Vauxhall, Technogym, Burton & South Derbyshire College and Molson Coors.

Julie Harrington, The FA's group operations director for Wembley and St. George’s Park, said: "The team at St. George’s Park and Hilton thoroughly enjoyed hosting and supporting the first-ever Plumbase event.

"The business is clearly committed to supporting its staff and wider networks and the intricate details including the Plumbase crest and motivational speaker really helped them to do this.

"At St. George’s Park we can accommodate everything from small-scale meetings to exhibitions for 800 guests, and the success of this larger scale event is testament to this."
