There will be 16 different winners in The FA People's Cup in 2017

Teams across the country have less than two weeks to sign up to this season’s FA People’s Cup.

Over 5000 teams have already confirmed their place for the nationwide five-a-side competition, which is run in partnership with BBC Get Inspired.

And the closing date for teams to sign up to the free-to-enter competition is Sunday 19 February, so if you’re involved with a local team who fancy their chances on a national stage then now is the time to lay down the challenge.

The FA People's Cup
  • Sign-ups close: Sunday 19 February
  • First round: Friday 24 February & Sunday 26 February
  • Semi-finals: Friday 24 March & Sunday 26 March
  • Finals: Sunday 30 April & Monday 1 May

There are 16 categories, both male and female, ranging from U14s through to veterans (over-35s) which include walking football and disability categories.

Players can register as part of an established team or as an individual who can join 'wild card' teams that are formed prior to the tournament starting over the weekend of Friday 24 to Sunday 26 February.

Once registrations are completed, the competition will take place over three rounds: the first round, the semi-finals and the finals.

The People’s Cup is now in its third season, having seen almost 70,000 players taking part in the previous editions, with the winners from each category of the finals in Sheffield all invited to watch The Emirates FA Cup Final at Wembley.

And that could be YOU, as it’s hoped more players than ever will sign up for a very real opportunity of tasting cup glory - so make sure you’ve got your name on the teamsheet!
