Mpofu hat-trick fires Tamworth through in FA Youth Cup

Tamworth advance in FA Youth Cup

Junior Mpofu scored a hat-trick as Tamworth moved through to the next round of the FA Youth Cup with a thrilling 5-3 win over Hednesford Town after extra time. 

Matt Moody opened the scoring in the first half, before Remeao Hutton and Joe Wells put the visitors in front with composed finishes. 

Mpofu got his first in the second half from close range before firing through a number of bodies to give Tamworth the lead.

Hednesford equalised in dramatic circumstances as goalkeeper Reiss Wagstaff headed home to force extra time, but Mpofu completed his hat-trick with a stylish finish before Josh Derrick wrapped it up.

Worksop Town came from 3-0 down to beat Ossett Town 7-5 in a classic end-to-end goal fest.

The visitors raced into a 3-0 lead in the 12th minute, but Worksop came back in style thanks to two goals from Charlie Baird. 

Altrincham captain Thabari Jamibaya scored a 93rd-minute winner to down Stockport as the 10 men battled to a 3-2 victory after Jordan Milne went off injured with all subs used.

Darius Palmer gave Altrincham a first-half lead but Zac Robinson blasted Stockport level soon after the break. 

Robinson scored his second to put Stockport in the driving seat but late goals from Ricardo Pembele and Jamibaya saw the hosts progress.

Elsewhere, Eastbourne Borough swept past Margate 4-1 while Carshalton Athletic edged out Dartford 3-2. 

Blyth Spartans also progressed into the next round with a 5-3 win over Hebburn Town, while Hall Road Rangers beat Selby Town 7-4 in another high-scoring affair.

Dunkirk and Sudbury both moved serenely into the next round with comfortable victories. 

Dunkirk saw off Matlock Town 7-0, while Sudbury put eight past Stowmarket Town.

Dorking Wanderers beat local rivals Guildford 3-2, while AFC Hornchurch won 4-3 away at Hullbridge Sports.
