Goalkeeper Tom Heaton has signed a new three-year deal at Burnley to keep him at Turf Moor until June 2018.

Despite he and his Clarets team-mates suffering relegation from the Premier League last season, the 29-year-old’s impressive form in net earned him a first England call-up for last month’s matches against Republic of Ireland and Slovenia.

He kept 10 clean sheets in the top flight, and having committed his future to the club, he is eyeing even more in the Championship as he targets an immediate promotion.

"I'm very pleased as I've had two great years here so far and I've thoroughly enjoyed playing for this club,” he told Burnley’s official website.

"It's another three-year deal and this has felt like my home which has helped with my performances. I don't want to stop raising that bar and pushing myself to improve.

"I really love playing for the manager [Sean Dyche] and working with the staff, particularly the goalkeeping coach Billy Mercer who I feel I've improved under and I'm really excited for the times ahead."

Having enjoyed his first taste of the Premier League, Heaton believes the squad at the club are more than capable of bouncing back at the first attempt.

"We were disappointed about being relegated but the way we went forward with that means we can take the momentum into this season and push for an immediate return to the Premier League,” he added.

"I certainly look back over the last two years and the important thing for me is that I feel there is more to come.

"I had a taste of the Premier League last year and that gives you the hunger to get back and I want to be doing that with Burnley Football Club."
