Germany were in imperious form in Poprad

England's representatives in the UEFA Regions Cup, Isle of Man, were handed a tough lesson in international football by a classy German team.

The Three Lions won their opening game in Slovakia, defeating Scotland 2-0, but while manager Steve Burns elected to start with the same XI, they were powerless to resist Thursday's opponents.

The game started quietly with both sides appearing reluctant to attack but as the half progressed Germany began to take the upper hand with Mark Thomas in the England goal the busier of the two keepers, making three vital stops.

But it was one of these saves, on 20 minutes, that led to a German corner and the opening goal with Kleinschrodt rising unmarked to head home.

Asch doubled the advantage after a mistake from Thomas, and Germany cut loose in the second half, with one more apiece from Kleinschrodt and Asch, plus a brace for Marinic and a single strike from Weist.
