A memorandum of understanding has been agreed

The Crown Prosecution Service, the Association of Chief Police Officers and The Football Associations of England [The FA] and Wales [FWA] have agreed a memorandum of understanding as to the principles governing the issue of concurrent jurisdiction where a criminal offence is alleged to have been committed by a ‘Participant’ [as defined by The FA] or a ‘Subordinate’ [as defined by the FAW].

On limited occasions, a breach of football’s Rules and Regulations may also amount to a criminal offence. On those occasions, the above parties have concurrent jurisdiction to investigate and prosecute charges.

The principles contained in this protocol, which can be found here, have been approved by The FA and FAW following consultation with their stakeholders.
