Trevor Jones, Chairman of FC Phoenix, has been involved in grassroots football since 1985 and has been the driving force behind the development of the Hereford based club. In that time Trevor has unfortunately experienced some testing personal experiences, but come rain or shine nothing has stopped him from being ever present on his local football pitch.
Over the last 33 years Trevor has held positions of Manager, Secretary, Treasurer and Chairman of FC Phoenix. His hard work and dedication to grassroots football means children in the local community have had the chance to enjoy football week in week out at a club that is rapidly expanding and improving.
Trevor had a pivotal role in the club gaining FA Charter Standard Community status – the highest level of recognition a club can be given on the FA Charter Standard club development pathway. He worked day and night, alongside FC Phoenix Club Secretary Ralph Farmer, to ensure that the club had everything in place to qualify for the award. From allocating qualified coaches to each of the club’s teams to making sure that all club facilities were in the best possible condition, Trevor made sure every part of the Charter Standard Community Club requirements were met to the highest of standards.
Trevor’s grassroots football involvement ventures further than FC Phoenix, as he is also a council member of the Herefordshire County FA. In this role Trevor travels all over the country as a county representative passing on his experience to help develop clubs in the region by mentoring coaches, managers and internal club staff. In the small amount of free time Trevor has left he reports on grassroots football news for the local newspaper so the community can keep up to date with all the grassroots football activity in the region.
Trevor is a true grassroots football hero and despite experiencing some testing times in his life he has always put his heart and soul into developing and run an incredible club to the benefit of his local community.
