Jed Hewitt has been involved in grassroots football in Tiverton, Devon for the past 15 years, all the while juggling his family of five and busy professional life around the demands of not one but two grassroots football clubs.
In the 15 years Jed has been involved in grassroots football he has been the driving force in the development of Moors Youth FC, as a founding member, Club Secretary, Chairman, and now Club President, Jed has overseen and driven great change in the grassroots club. Moors Youth FC now boasts over 200 playing members, fields 16 teams on a weekly basis and has FA Charter Standard Community Status, the highest level of recognition a club can be given on the FA Charter Standard club development pathway.
If that wasn’t enough, Jed took on the additional position of Football and Social Club Chairman of Tiverton based Elmore FC – a club that was run down and struggling both on and off the pitch before Jed stepped in.
As a result of Jed’s hard work and the long hours he committed to developing Elmore FC, the club really turned itself around by improving its facilities and results. The club now boasts a newly refurbished club house, with top outdoor and indoor facilities and the introduction of a more structured player pathway meaning that the club’s teams are more competitive. Jed’s mentoring of junior managers has meant that teams have rapidly progressed and the club now has four teams competing on a regular basis.
Jed strives to provide a safe and fun environment for everyone in the local community to enjoy football. He is a role model and mentor to all involved in the game around Tiverton and thoroughly deserves the recognition for all his hard work that he has put into Moors Youth and Elmore football clubs.
