We’ve created some templates to help make your life a little bit easier. From headed paper to match programmes, from email newsletters to posters, kick-off your promotion in style.
Once you have your club image and club crest sorted, you’ll need to apply it to all your communications. This includes all your week-to-week stuff, such as headed paper and team sheets. But you also need to apply this to your ‘digital’ communications, like your website, email ‘footers’ – a picture box on the bottom of your email – and e-newsletters.
Some clubs use texting as the best way to get information direct to parents, when posters are not effective and team managers don’t always get the news across. You can try systems such as teachers2parents to manage your database of numbers and sending out a group text with just one click of a button. Whichever service you choose, ensure you check out the terms, conditions and costs before signing up.
Everything you produce should have the same consistent look and feel. Everyone who sees these will recognise they’re from your club and you’ll make a great impression.
Take the templates and create your own master copies to save you having to redo the design every time. Add in your crest and change the colour scheme to reflect your club on each template, then save as a ‘master’ file. If you save all the promotional files you produce with a relevant name and date, this will be helpful to refer back when producing items for similar events or for handing over to another club official if you switch roles.
You can use some of the templates to help you promote your events, such as posters, leaflets and web banners. Make sure you use simple, impactful language and include all the necessary information to attract people to your event/match. Check out the event promotion page for where to use these.
Always include the key details – date, time, location, cost if applicable and contact name and number. Use the checklist to ensure the promotional material answers these questions – Who? What? Where? Why? When?
Use your photo library to select some great pictures to illustrate your promotional items or newsletters. Strong action shots, celebration scenes or smiling team shots will appeal to those considering whether to come to your event or buy a match programme.
