Become a Coach

Coaches are essential for teaching and developing players at every level of football. Football is changing.

Players are quicker, stronger and more creative. Teams work harder, cover more distance and face more challenges than ever before. As the game gets quicker, the role of the coach can never be underestimated.

Coaching Pathway

The FA’s education arm FA Learning has a comprehensive approach to training coaches from grassroots to elite level.

There is a coaching pathway which maps the journey from a new coach undertaking his or her first training course right through to taking the top qualifications needed to manage an international side.

The FA Licensed Coaches Club

In today’s ever evolving game, it is essential that coaches at all levels of the game keep up to speed with new coaching techniques and advice.

The FA has launched its first ever coach licensing scheme: The FA Licensed Coaches’ Club. The scheme aims to raise standards in coaching across the game by ensuring that coaches keep their training and qualifications up to date.

The FA Licensed Coaches’ Club forms a key part of The FA’s Youth Development Review and Coaching Strategy.

Youth Courses

The FA Youth Award is a groundbreaking new coaching course designed to help coaches understand as much about their players as they understand about the game.

The course is split into different modules and is delivered across the country. Feedback from grassroots and elite coaches taking the course has been overwhelmingly positive.
