Why can’t we play futsal: consolidation

Guide 5 - 11

In the fourth part of a series focusing on the benefits of playing futsal, particularly in winter, The Boot Room looks at how going indoors can help players build on their knowledge of the game.
The nature of learning and development means that we should look to provide little chunks of new information to build upon previous knowledge and understanding. It’s important that you allow and support lots of practice time and look to transfer the learning into the full-blown game.

This sounds easy but it does take a long time.

This is one of the reasons why moving inside during winter and playing futsal could benefit young players. Players are losing out on important game and learning time when matches are called off or the players are freezing waiting to come on.

Therefore, maximising learning opportunities and going indoors during the winter makes sense.

Watch the video below to see how a coach takes the time to consolidate the players’ understanding of the game, which fits in line with the England DNA.
