Fara Williams is ready to claim three more World Cup qualifying points against Turkey – at the venue where she made her full England debut eleven years ago.
The midfielder turned out against Portugal at Fratton Park in February 2002 and marked her big day by scoring an angled free-kick.
And Williams will return to Portsmouth’s famous old stadium when the Turks visit the south coast on Thursday.
She told FATV: “I remember it because I scored a free-kick.
“When you’re a kid and you come in[to the squad] it’s exciting and it was very exciting for me. To play with the players I played with then was an amazing experience for me.”
Williams has urged her team-mates to avoid an upset when they take on the 65th best ranked team in women’s football.
England have faced Turkey twice before and defeated them 3-0 on each occasion.
Williams added: “We have to pick up maximum points.
“We can’t afford to slip up in these games and I think Turkey are similar [opponents] to Belarus and hopefully we’ll have a similar performance and get the goals we need.
“To pick up six points from your first two [games] is what you want and it would [get] us off to a good start.”
