Karen Carney said she is determined to make the most of this month’s UEFA Women’s Euro 2013 Finals.
The England forward is set to embark on her third Euro campaign, having featured in both 2005 and 2009.
But a recent injury lay-off has given the 25-year-old an added sense of perspective.
Carney said: “I’m blessed to be here. When I injured myself in March I had a few doubts as to whether I’d make it.
“But now that I’m here I’m determined to enjoy the whole experience more than I have in the past.
“I’m really happy to be here, I’m in a good frame of mind and I’ve been really pleased with my fitness over the last few weeks.
“Now I can’t wait for the tournament to start.”
The Birmingham trickster played, and scored, in a behind-closed-doors game against Holland last Monday and she will be hoping to get some more minutes under her belt against Sweden on Thursday.
The friendly in Uddevalla, some 50 miles north of Gothenburg, is England’s final warm-up game before they take on Spain in their Group C opener on Friday 12 July.
Carney added: “It’s a great game to have going into next week.
“Sweden are one of the best sides in the world and as the host nation they will want to put on a good show so we know it’s going to be a very tough game.
“The most important thing for us is that we put in a good performance so we can go into the Spain game in good confidence.
“Hopefully it will be an entertaining 90 minutes and neither side pick up any injuries.”
