Hope Powell says her England squad are feeling calm ahead of their UEFA Women’s Euro 2013 opener in Sweden.
The Three Lions face Spain on Friday evening in the newly built Linköping Arena.
England travelled to Gothenburg eleven days ago for one final warm-up match against the host nation and now the National Coach believes her side are in the right frame of mind to gets things under way.
Powell said: “Preparation has gone OK, so we are all raring to go. I’m looking forward to it.
“Where we are staying is helping [to keep the squad calm]. The hotel is quite relaxing, it’s quite open and there’s a lot of sunlight. It’s a nice environment.
“We had the game against Sweden [and] travelled to Linköping after that so that’s broken it up a little bit. It’s actually gone relatively quickly.
“We have done a lot of work on the pitch in between, a lot of analysis and basically just been relaxing. The girls are free to walk around as they please and I think the time has flown.”
This is England’s fourth straight appearance at a European Championship Finals. They were runners-up to Germany in 2009 despite losing their opening group game to Italy.
Powell’s charges qualified unbeaten for this year’s edition, but she believes it will be a tight encounter on Friday.
She added: “The first group game is always quite tense. I’m sure both teams are raring to go and I’m sure both teams have a [few] nerves inside them.
“The tournament has been a long time coming. Once you qualified you’ve got quite a few months to prepare.
“It’s a game I’m sure both teams want to do well in and with that comes a few nerves.”
