Gillingham skipper Chris Hope and Casey Stoney have issued a rallying call to fans.
FIFA 2007 Women's World Cup qualifier
England v Austria
Thursday 20 April 2006, 7.45pm kick-off
Gillingham FC skipper, Chris Hope has joined England defender, Casey Stoney to urge football fans to support England’s Women when they take on Austria at the Gills’ Priestfield Stadium in just a fortnight's time.
Charlton Athletic lynchpin, Stoney, who coaches children in a number of schools in Kent, will be looking to carry on where she left off in England’s last game, against France, by taking her place in Hope Powell’s squad for the vital Women's World Cup Qualifier.
Casey said: “We’ve had an excellent start to our qualifying campaign for next year’s World Cup Finals having won three and drawn one of our first four matches, and I’m really looking forward to playing at Gillingham.
"Only one team from our group goes through, so we need to maintain our form against the Austrians to ensure we stay ahead of France and Holland who are chasing hard.”
Gills skipper, Chris Hope, added: “It’s great that England’s women are coming to the Priestfield for the latest match in their quest to secure a place at the World Cup in China.
"I know from playing here for Gillingham that the fans always get behind us, so I hope they turn out in force to cheer Casey and the rest of the team to victory.”
Tickets for the match went on sale on Monday 20 March from the Gillingham FC ticket office and ticket hotline - 01634 300000.
Tickets are priced at £5 for adults and £2.50 for concessions.
There are special discounts available for schools and football clubs, on application to Gillingham FC.
