England Under-21 midfielder Nat Chalobah signs new contract with Chelsea
England Under-21 midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah has committed his future to Chelsea by signing a new five year contract at Stamford Bridge.
The 18-year-old has been with the Blues since he was 11 and has also been an England regular with over 60 caps across U16, U17, U19 and Under-21 level.
Chalobah enjoyed an impressive loan spell with Championship outfit Watford last season and caught Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho's eye during the club's pre-season tour of the Far East this summer.
Speaking about his new deal, Chalobah said: "I think I have developed a lot as a player but I know I must continue to improve to earn a place in the Chelsea team and with my future settled, I can concentrate on doing that.
"Training with Jose Mourinho and the Chelsea squad this pre-season, every session has been different with something new to take on board. I've enjoyed it a lot."
Mourinho has also been pleased to see Chalobah's progress at the club, adding: "'He's a very, very good player and I like him very, very much. I am very impressed. For sure, he is a Chelsea player."
The south Londoner has been named in the England Under-21 squad to face Moldova and Finland next week and will be linking up with new Head Coach Gareth Southgate at St. George's Park this weekend.
He will also be joined by Chelsea's assistant first team coach Steve Holland, who will be Southgate's assistant coach.
