Milton Keynes and Shrewsbury to host England Under-21s' November qualifiers
England Under-21s bring 2013 to an end with a Euro double-header in November as they continue their qualifying campaign for Czech Republic 2015.
Gareth Southgate’s team host both Finland and San Marino so will be looking to take full advantage of home support in both Milton Keynes and Shrewsbury respectively.
First up will be current Group One leaders Finland, who held the Three Lions to a 1-1 draw in Tampere earlier this month. The two sides meet at stadiummk on Thursday 14 November.
The squad then head north-west to Shropshire, where they will play San Marino at Greenhous Meadow, home of Shrewsbury Town on Tuesday 19 November.
The games bring a busy three months to an end for Southgate and his team, who began their new qualifying campaign in September with a win against Moldova in Reading and then the draw with Finland.
October brings two more qualifiers with the trip to San Marino and then a game with Lithuania at Ipswich Town’s Portman Road before the final two matches of 2013 take place.
Under-21s Head Coach Southgate said: “It’s always good to be back on home soil for our qualifiers and hopefully we can get the results we want from these matches.
“It’s a busy start to the qualifying campaign for us, but we want to try and be in control of the group going into next year.
“One thing that we noticed in our last game in Finland was that the playing surface was quite thick and it will be similar in most of the other nations we face away.
“We’re spoilt with the pitches that we get to play on here in England so we’ll be looking forward to these games.”
Both games will be shown live on BT Sport
