Marvin Sordell says England will do all they can to get maximum points from their meeting with Norway on Saturday night.
After the sub-par performance against Italy in their Euro 2013 opener on Wednesday which resulted in a 1-0 defeat, the Under-21s need a positive outcome when the travel to Petah Tikva on matchday two.
The defeat to the Azzurrini ended a nine-game winning streak for Stuart Pearce’s men, but Sordell is confident the team can return to winning ways quickly.
"We know we didn't play as well as we could against Italy but we want to move on," said the Bolton Wanderers striker.
"This is an opportunity to do so. If we perform to our best we will have a very good chance to win the game.
"Before the Italy game, our performances had been very good. We were disappointed with how we played against Italy but we have to move on and do everything we can to get three points.”
England will be buoyed by the return of Tom Ince and Danny Rose from suspension, while Wilfried Zaha is also in contention after recovering from the injury that kept him out of the Italian clash.
And Sordell believes that with a virtually full-strength squad to pick from – only Henri Lansbury remains on the sidelines with injury – England’s players are determined to get their European Championship campaign up and running.
"The strength of the squad speaks for itself. We need as many players fit as it breeds competition,” Sordell said in the official pre-match press conference on Friday.
"Everyone wants to be involved. The defeat was good for us. You learn a lot when you are on the back foot. It gives you a chance to reassess and move forward.
“We had two very tough legs against Serbia. We came together and you will see how tough we are when you see how we react tomorrow night."
