Spain suffered a shock extra-time defeat to Uruguay in the FIFA U20 World Cup quarter-finals.
A 103rd-minute Felipe Avenatti goal was enough to win for a South American side that boasts the meanest defence in the tournament.
After an even game, with chances at both ends, fortunes changed for Uruguay when Spanish 'keeper Sotres collided with a post making a save on the final whistle.
Ruben Yanez begun extra-time in goal in his place and he soon found himself picking the ball out of the net as De Arrascaeta's corner was met by substitute Avenatti, who scored with a powerful header.
The South Americans will now face the winner of Iraq and Korea Republic.
Earlier on Saturday, France booked their place in the last four with a convincing 4-0 victory over Uzbekistan.
Victory marked their biggest win of the tournament with the goals coming from from Yaya Sanogo, Paul Pogba, Florian Thauvin and Kurt Zouma.
Uzbekistan were reduced to ten men when Tohirjon Shamshitdinov was sent off midway through the second half, but they were never in the game after going behind to a 31st-minute goal by new Arsenal signing Sanogo.
Pogba struck from the penalty spot soon after and Thauvin also netted with a spot-kick just two minutes before half-time.
The fourth goal came on 64 minutes when Kurt Zouma scored with a diving header.
France will face the winners of Chile and Ghana, who play on Sunday, in Istanbul.
