France and Uruguay to contest World Cup final following wins over Ghana and Iraq
France are through to their first ever FIFA U20 World Cup Final after two goals from Florian Thauvin earned them a 2-1 victory over Ghana - and they will now face Uruguay who beat unlucky Iraq 7-6 on penalties.
Jean Christophe Bahebeck hit the post early on for France in their semi-final in Turkey before Lille midfielder Thauvin clipped them ahead on the stoke of half-time.
Ghana equalised soon after the break through Ebenezer Assifuah who fired home a stunning left-foot shot.
But Thauvin's second goal in the 74th minute sealed victory, even though Samuel Umtiti was sent off late on for a second bookable offence.
There was just as much drama as Iraq took on Uruguay in a match that ended in a penalty shoot-out.
Ali Adnan put Iraq ahead after 34 minutes but Gonzalo Bueno equalised three minutes from the end to force extra time.
The teams could not be separated in extra time but in a thrilling shoot-out, Uruguay eventually went through 7-6 thanks to a miss from Iraq's Saif.
