Noel Blake has named his England U19s squad for next month’s Euro qualifiers in Slovenia, with an 18-man group starting out on the road to next summer’s finals in Hungary.
England’s campaign began earlier this month with a 6-1 warm-up victory over Estonia in Tallinn and Blake has kept a similar squad together for this trip.
There are one or two alterations though, with Chelsea midfielder John Swift and Portsmouth defender Adam Webster returning to the squad after appearing last season.
And there is a first England call-up for Southampton defender Matthew Targett, along with Derby County striker Mason Bennett being named in an U19 squad for the first time after previously being capped at U16 and U17 level.
The Young Lions face hosts Slovenia, Andorra and Switzerland during their trip to Ptuj, with the top two nations from the group of four progressing to the Elite Qualifying Round next May.
The squad will meet up for the trip on Saturday 5 October before flying to Slovenia two days later.
