Max Lowe is hoping some local support can help England U17s to victory over Turkey on Friday evening.
The Derby County defender is part of the Young Lions squad
challenging for The FA International Trophy this week.
And with England's games being played in Burton, it’s just a short distance from home for Lowe, who featured in Wednesday’s opening game with Portugal
after also appearing for the U16s in last season’s Victory Shield success.
Lowe told TheFA.com: “Hopefully a lot of Derby fans come and watch the games as it’s only up the road.
“A lot of my family and friends will be coming to watch and I’m really looking forward to it.
“I really enjoyed my experience in playing in the Victory Shield for the U16s last year and I hope to follow on from that by performing well in the fixtures at Burton.
“Portugal, Italy and Turkey are fantastic football nations and will provide a tough test for us.”
The 16-year-old has plenty of players to draw inspiration from at Pride Park, with fellow Derby academy players like Mason Bennett
and Will Hughes
having featured for England and the Rams’ first team in the last year.
And Lowe has already been given a taste of first team action by Derby boss Nigel Clough in pre-season, which has given him the incentive for more.
“I’m really enjoying my football at Derby and I can’t wait for the season ahead,” he added.
“I want to progress this season even more, keep playing in the U18s side and hopefully become a regular in Derby’s Under-21 side.
“I’ve seen Will Hughes and Mason Bennett come through the England and Derby ranks in the last few years and I’m hoping to eventually do the same as them.
“Mason was a part of the England squad last year in this Tournament and I’ve watched him break into the first team at Derby so I’d love to eventually do the same.
“I played in a pre-season game for the first team and it was a fantastic experience.
“To play and learn off players like Will is brilliant for myself. He is such a good footballer and makes the game look so easy at times.”
