Man of the Match Ashley Young insists Fabio Capello’s side can still qualify for Euro 2012 after coming from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 with Switzerland at Wembley.
Young came on in the second half to revitalise the Three Lions, scoring the equaliser after Switzerland had taken a 2-1 lead into the break.
The Aston Villa man admits his team-mates were disappointed not to win the qualifier but are trying to look on the positive side. The result leaves England still top of their group but knowing Montenegro can overtake them if they beat Bulgaria later tonight.
Young said: “We created chances in the second half and on another day they would have gone in. But it wasn’t to be.
“I’m not too sure what’s happened in the first half but we had to come out in the second half and put on a better show. We showed team spirit and fight to get back in the game.
“I thought I did really well when I came on, I got the goal. But everyone in the dressing room was disappointed not to win. It would have been a better feeling for me if we could have got three points.
“But of course we can still qualify. We have a great team and great squad. We have another three games to come and we’ll go for the nine points.”
