Help for Haiti
Wednesday, 03 March, 2010
£1 from every England programme sold tonight will go towards Haiti fund.
It is estimated that more than 200,000 people lost their lives in Haiti as a result of the recent devastating earthquake. The FA has joined millions of people around the world in offering support.
At tonight’s game against Egypt we want to raise awareness not only of the human disaster but also the plight of its footballing community. Thirty-two members of the Haiti Football Federation lost their lives and its headquarters were destroyed.
- £1 from every programme sold will go to “Hope for Haiti” a fund set up by CONCACAF to help restore football to the island
- England players are donating their match fees for tonight to this fund – a five figure sum
- The DEC/Sun DVD of ‘everybody hurts’ will be played before the match and there will be a bucket collection amongst fans
- FIFA levies from this and our next friendly against Mexico have been doubled to £100k to go to the FIFA special fund for Haiti.
