Wilfried Zaha opens United account against Cerezo Osaka
Wilfried Zaha opened his Manchester United account on Friday when he scored a last-minute equaliser against Cerezo Osaka.
United had trailed 2-1 when Zaha was introduced to the action with ten mniutes to go, and he converted an Anderson pass with just seconds remaining to earn his side a draw.
Prior to the match England attacker Ashley Young, who won a penalty for United in the 52nd minute, had praised Zaha, saying he believes his Manchester United team-mate Wilfried Zaha has a “great future”.
Zaha, who joined from Crystal Palace, is the only new face in the United squad touring the Far East and Australia, and his direct wing play has impressed his new colleagues.
Despite the livewire winger increasing the competition for places at Old Trafford, Young welcomes the competition and says that he can already see that Zaha, who made his England debut in Sweden last November, is destined to go to the very top.
He told MUTV: “He's going to be a fantastic player.
"We wouldn't have signed him if he wasn't going to have a great future and he'll have the experience of listening to the older, experienced players talk.
"It's always good for the club having additions like Wilf and he's been fantastic."
Manchester United continue their pre-season tour on Monday when they face Kitchee FC.
Both Young and Zaha could be included in Roy Hodgson's squad next month when England take on Scotland at Wembley on Wednesday 14 August. Click here to buy your tickets for the game now.
