Republic of Ireland captain Robbie Keane praised both sets of supporters following his country’s 1-1 draw with England at Wembley
on Wednesday night.
In his programme notes, Three Lions boss Roy Hodgson asked the home fans to respect their visitors from the Emerald Isle.
And former Tottenham skipper Keane, Ireland’s all-time top goalscorer with 54 goals, was delighted with the atmosphere inside the stadium.
He told FATV: “Full credit to the fans. I [thought] they behaved themselves incredibly well.
“Everyone was obviously talking about that before the game and were a bit worried about that but the two sets of fans were great.
“Our fans – when we go away from home they always behave themselves very, very well. And that was certainly the case tonight.”
