Manchester United man says he's happy to play in defence or midfield
England man Phil Jones says he is happy in any position as long as he's playing.
The 21-year-old has excelled in both defence and midfield for Manchester United and the Three Lions.
In his last two outings for Roy Hodgson's men, he came on at right back against Republic of Ireland and then played in central midfield in Brazil.
And the former Blackburn Rovers youngster operated at centre back in United's 5-1 victory over the Australian A-League All-stars in Sydney on Saturday, but says he just enjoys playing.
“It’s like I said last season when I was playing right-back, centre-back and centre midfield, I just enjoy playing football," Jones told ManUtd.com.
"If that means playing in different positions then that’s fine, I just want to play.
"Hopefully I can play plenty of games.”
Jones was one of six England players in the United line-up on for Saturday's victory, as Danny Welbeck also netted a brace, much to the delight of manager David Moyes.
"I think it was impressive that Danny scored a couple of goals – he might have got four or five on another night," said Moyes.
Jones and Welbeck could be included in Roy Hodgson's squad next month when England take on Scotland at Wembley on Wednesday 14 August. Click here to buy your tickets for the game now.
