Kyle Walker enjoying pre-season and hoping for strong campaign with club and country

Kyle Walker hopes a good pre-season can be the perfect springboard for a strong campaign with Spurs and England.
The defender, 23, missed the final international games of last season against Republic Of Ireland and Brazil after withdrawing from the squad due to injury.
But after a close season break, he’s been enjoying his return to training with Tottenham this summer.
And with the new Premier League campaign fast approaching, Walker says he is feeling stronger and stronger ahead of the big kick-off.
He told TheFA.com: “It’s been good so far, we’ve been having double-sessions so there hasn’t been much time at home.
“Hopefully it will pay off though, from the start of next month to the back-end of the season.
“If other teams might be tired later in the season, I still want to be flying up and down the wing.
“You just have to keep your head down and working hard because it will pay off in the long run.”
England also have a big few months of World Cup qualifiers ahead, but their first test will come next month when Scotland are the visitors to Wembley.
And with his last England appearance coming against San Marino in March, the former Sheffield United man is keen to impress with Spurs and be back involved under Roy Hodgson.
He added: “That’s the main thing, if you can do well at club level, it always helps to get into the international squad.
“Hopefully I can do the business on the pitch for Tottenham and then the gaffer can pick me for the games.
“Fingers crossed that it all goes to plan and we’ll see where it gets us.”
Walker and his Spurs team-mates are in action on Wednesday night when they face Swindon Town in their first pre-season match.
It’s then onto Colchester United at the weekend before travelling to Hong Kong to face Sunderland next Wednesday.
Andre Villas-Boas’ squad round-off their warm-ups with a game in Monaco on 3 August and then Espanyol at White Hart Lane on 10 August.
