England's Danny Welbeck and Glen Johnson speak to FATV ahead of double-header
Danny Welbeck and Glen Johnson are hoping to taste a variety of match experiences this week as they prepare for England’s final games of the season.
The Three Lions take on Republic Of Ireland at Wembley on Wednesday before jetting off to South America and a match against Brazil in Rio next Sunday.
And with an ‘international derby’ atmosphere to contend with at Wembley before a taste of South American football at the legendary Maracan Stadium, it promises to be a lively few days for England.
Manchester United striker Welbeck told FATV: "It's a trip that a lot of the lads are looking forward to.
"These games don't come around too often and to play Republic Of Ireland at Wembley is going to be a really good stage for us to show what we can do.
"And then to go to Brazil and play in the Maracana is something that all of the lads are really looking forward to.”
Liverpool defender Johnson is eyeing up Wednesday’s match with the Republic first, with a big crowd expected at Wembley to see Roy Hodgson’s side take on Giovanni Trapattoni’s men.
He said: "Any team that plays England at Wembley always wants to go away with a win so I don't think it will be much of a friendly.
"We know the majority of their players anyway so I'm sure it will be a ferocious game.”
