Ashley Cole is eagerly anticipating the challenge of facing Real Madrid on Wednesday
England defender Ashley Cole
has spoken of his excitement ahead of lining-up for Chelsea against Real Madrid.
The Blues will meet Madrid and their former manager Carlo Ancelotti at the Sun Life Stadium in Miami on Wednesday night.
And Cole is looking forward to renewing both rivalries and friendships as he prepares to face the Spanish giants for the first time in his career.
The 103-capped Three Lion said: “It will be great to catch up with Carlo Ancelotti, who is a great guy.
“We loved working with him at Chelsea and hopefully he can have a good first season in Spain.”
It’s been a good pre-season for the Blues so far and Cole feels they’ve been building up to the new campaign nicely.
And with matches against the likes of Real, it should be perfect preparation for the start of the Premier League.
Speaking to Chelsea’s website, the 32-year-old added: “Real Madrid will be a huge test for us, they're obviously one of the best teams in the world and I've had some good games with Cristiano Ronaldo down the years, so I hope this will be another exciting match.”
Fellow England internationals Ryan Bertrand
and Gary Cahill
are also expected to be involved in the Guinness International Champions Cup final.
