Jack Wilshere is looking forward to pre-season at Arsenal after overcoming injury
The England midfielder, aged 21, has suffered a frustrating time with injuries over the last two years, but he now feels his ankle is ‘100 per cent’ as he prepares to jet off on the Gunners tour of Asia.
Speaking in a question and answer session with www.espnfc.com, Wilshere said: "I am really looking forward to having a solid pre-season. I haven't had one in two years and once you miss it, you are always playing catch-up.”
Of the upcoming tour, he added: "It's a chance to show the manager that you deserve to be in the team and I think there's going to be competition for a few spots, but that's a good thing.”
Wilshere pulled on the Three Lions jersey for the first time since 2011 back in February and played a key role in helping England defeat Brazil 2-1 at Wembley
, and hopefully with a solid pre-season behind him he’ll be able to play a significant part in the remainder of the FIFA 2014 World Cup Qualifying campaign, as well as the match Teenage Cancer Trust
International with Scotland at Wembley Stadium on Wednesday 14 August.
The Football Association has selected Teenage Cancer Trust as its Official Charity Partner during The FA’s 150th anniversary
