TheFA.com takes a closer look at the Lions who roared in the Premiership at the weekend.
Wayne Rooney was one of the biggest Three Lions heroes of the weekend with his winner for Manchester United at Liverpool.
The England star upstaged Liverpool debutant Fernando Morientes as he clinched victory in the 21st minute.
Once again, Shaun Wright-Phillips was on fire for Manchester City, scoring twice in a 3-1 victory over Crystal Palace either side of a goal from former England star Robbie Fowler.
Lee Hendrie was on top form for Aston Villa, scoring in a 3-0 victory over Norwich City.
Ashley Cole was one of the better performers for Arsenal in their 1-0 defeat at Bolton Wanderers, while ex-England captain Alan Shearer returned from injury to score a penalty against Southampton.
In the Championship, England U21 star Darren Bent scored twice for Ipswich Town in a 3-2 victory over Coventry City.
Bobby Zamora scored twice for West Ham United but couldn’t prevent a 4-2 defeat at Wolves, whose goalscorers included former England captain Paul Ince and former Under-21 star Carl Cort.
England U17s star Simon Walton scored for Leeds United in their 1-1 draw against Cardiff City at Elland Road.
But it was Frank Lampard who was the top lion of the weekend, once again being hailed as the best midfielder in England after his two-goal supershow against Spurs on Saturday.
Lampard scored both goals for Chelsea in a 2-0 victory at White Hart Lane that left them 10 points clear at the top of the Premiership.
The first was a controversial but well-taken penalty and the second an unerring 16-yard finish in injury time.
Chelsea assistant manager Steve Clarke said: "Frank Lampard did very well again. His energy levels are fantastic and I don’t think there is a better midfielder in England. He is so consistent for us.
"He showed his quality today with the penalty, because there was a lot of pressure on it and it was a good penalty. Then right at the end he showed great energy to get up there and score the second."
