Chelsea's England duo Frank Lampard and John Terry have been named in the FIFPro World Team of the Year.
Chelsea and England stars Frank Lampard and John Terry were both named in the FIFPro World Team of the Year.
Lampard was named in a midfield that included Zinedine Zidane, Ronaldinho and Chelsea teammate Claude Makelele. Terry was in a defence that also starred Cafu, Alessandro Nesta and Paolo Maldini.
The Blues pair also shared the major awards in England last season, with Lampard the Footballer of the Year voted for by journalists and Terry the PFA Player of the Year, voted for by his peers.
Now Lampard says he can hardly believe his success. He said: "It's hard to explain how I feel. When you think of players all over the world voting for you with such outstanding players also in the team it's amazing. I'm very proud to be in there. It was a really good night for me.
"It is a great recognition when you get voted for by your fellow players. On the scale which is voted across the world, it is as high as an accolade you can get as an individual, to be part of a team of such great players.
"I think there were eight Chelsea players nominated in all and that says a lot. We need to keep things going and hopefully there will be even more next year."
"The awards you really crave are those when you get the recognition from the players you play against.
"John Terry and Claude Makele were also in the team and that was great for Chelsea. It shows what a fantastic season we had last season, not just as individuals but as a team as well.
