Real Madrid Sporting Director Emilio Butragueño on Beckham, Owen and Saturday's match against Barcelona.
EXCLUSIVE: On Saturday evening, Michael Owen will experience his first taste of one of the biggest club matches in the world - "el derby" between Barcelona and Real Madrid.
This season's first meeting between the sides comes at a crucial time in the Spanish league season, with the two teams lying in first and second place in the league.
Though Barca may lead their Madrid rivals by four points, it is Real who are in the better form having won four in a row in the league, whilst Barca lost for the first time this season away to Betis last weekend.
With the match taking place in the Nou Camp, the Catalans will go into the game as slight favourites, even though fortune has smiled on Real in recent weeks.
"The match is very important," says Real Madrid Sporting Director and legendary striker Emilio Butragueño. "We are going to the Nou Camp at a very important time in the season and the team is reaching its form."
The game could also see the first time that a fit David Beckham and a settled Owen play together, which is something that Butragueño would love to see.
"Beckham is an important player for us," he says. "He works very hard, he is talented and he supplies the team with many chances.
"We have done well without him, so now he is coming back we will hopefully improve even more.
"They [Beckham and Owen] always do well for England and hopefully we can see the relationship they have for the national team [replicated] for Real Madrid."
The history of matches involving these two sides is one which is rich in artistry and controversy but whatever the circumstances, they are never muted affairs.
"A Barcelona-Real Madrid game is always passionate and I am sure we can do well," says Butragueño.
"I am sure it will be very open and we have the offensive players who can take advantage."
* Butragueño responded to the Spain v. England match yesterday saying: "At Real Madrid we are very sad, disappointed and angry about what happened.
"That incident does not represent Spanish football or Spanish football fans It was a good game of the national team tarnished by some idiots.
"Real Madrid, as a reference in the world of football, will work against racism and for unity for everybody. Spanish football cannot be represented by this group of savages."
