Ray Clemence tells TheFA.com that Liverpool's Chris Kirkland still has a glittering career ahead of him.
England goalkeeping coach Ray Clemence has sent an upbeat message to Chris Kirkland after the Liverpool youngster was ruled out for six weeks with a broken wrist.
The 22-year-old suffered the injury in training today before the team left for Southampton and X-rays later revealed he had broken his left wrist, which is now in a cast.
"It's really unfortunate for Chris," Ray told us. "We are all very disappointed for him that, just at a time when he was beginning to establish himself in the first team, he should pick up another injury like this.
"We are looking forward to seeing him playing again as quickly as possible and the positive thing is that, still being so young, time is very much on his side. We all remain convinced that he has what it takes to be a top-quality goalkeeper."
The injury rules Kirkland out of England's friendly away in Sweden on 31st March. Sven will name his squad for EURO 2004 here on TheFA.com on 17th May.
