The England coach gives us the latest news on the fitness concerns going into Sunday's friendly match with Denmark at Old Trafford...
"Yes we are monitoring both Beckham and Wayne Rooney," he confirmed to us on Tuesday afternoon.
"We are aware that Beckham has a back problem. He will report for us on Thursday and will be assessed by our medical staff then.
"With Wayne Rooney the medical staff will speak to the Everton's medical staff on Wednesday to see how Wayne is progressing."
Everton striker Rooney, who played 71 minutes of England's last match away to Turkey, was kept out of Monday night's match at Blackburn with the flu.
The 18-year-old will need to make a quick recovery if he is able to meet up with the rest of his team-mates on Thursday when preparations will begin for England's last match on home soil for six months.
His club manager David Moyes told Sky Sports: "I would be surprised [if he plays], but I hope he does because I want him to play for England."
Meanwhile David Beckham sustained the injury to his lower back during Real Madrid's 4-1 defeat against Sevilla at the weekend and club doctors have reportedly advised him to rest until Wednesday.
The former Manchester United player has been left out of Real's squad for a friendly match against Valladolid on Tuesday in order to give him time to recover from the strain.
We'll keep you updated with all the latest news and views from inside the England camp during the week.
