The England captain says that he and the players will give everything when they pull on the famous white shirt tomorrow night...
The Three Lions need to avoid defeat in order to win Group 7 and qualify for next summer's European Championships ahead of Senol Gunes' Turkey.
The Turkish media today admitted that they believe their country has an historic opportunity to defeat England in this game. But David Beckham quickly outlined his own determination to achieve the desired result.
"We are all now fully focused on the game and determined to win it and book our place in next summer's finals in Portugal," he said in the press conference held at the Team Hotel.
"In a way [the past week] has brought the squad closer together, and we are even more determined to get a result here.
"I can assure you that every player is proud to be picked for his country and wear the England shirt.
"We will play our hearts out for our country and for ourselves and, I hope, we'll come out with the right result."
Beckham knows form will count for nothing tomorrow evening, with such a prize as qualification for Euro 2004 at stake.
"The statistics go out of the window," Beckham said. "Draw or win - this is a massive game for both teams and we will be fighting for it."
The atmosphere in the Sukru Saracoglu Satdium in Istanbul is bound to be intense but Beckham believes England have what it takes to play in such an arena: "You have to be as calm as you can. It is pretty hard in the atmosphere this game will be played in.
"It will be great in the stands and on the pitch as both teams are very patriotic and there is a massive prize we are both aiming for."
With leading goalscorer Michael Owen out injured, England will in all liklehood field two of Emile Heskey, Darius Vassell, James Beattie and Wayne Rooney.
And should the Everton man play, Beckham is happy the 17-year-old could handle the responsibility: "Wayne played well against Turkey before, when he was man of the match. Let's hope he does the same again. He has the ability to."
So, after a difficult week, the players' minds are now fully focused and one and all are looking forward to the match tomorrow: "We are up for the game and will be focused and are proud to wear the England shirt.
"Once we are on the pitch, people will realise how much football means to us."
