Euro 2016: tactical and technical analysis

During the Euro 2016 championships in France, we launched our Coaching Discussion series – a regular online feature that provided detailed coaching previews and analysis of games at each stage of the finals. 

Written by FA Education content editor, Peter Glynn, 16 articles in total were published on TheFA.com.

"On many of our FA Education coaching courses we challenge the candidates to analyse the trends, tactics and intricacies of the modern game" explained Glynn, who is an FA Advanced Youth Award and UEFA B coaching licence holder, as well as the editor of The Boot Room.

"The challenge for the coaches is to then translate what they have seen in order to design relevant and realistic coaching practices for the players they are working with.

"The purpose of the coaching discussion articles produced during the Euros was to hopefully get coaches thinking about what they were seeing at Euro 2016 and what it might mean for their coaching work.

"It has been pleasing to see that both coaches and non-coaches have been interested in engaging with this type of content."
