Renew your coaching licence today
The window is open! You can now renew your FA coaching licence for the 2019/20 season.
If you’re all in date and up to date with your licence criteria, you can start the renewal process now by visiting your MyTraining account.
Once there, you should see a re-licensing button. Click that and follow the steps. You’ll receive confirmation of your licence renewal and an update on when you’ll receive your coaching licence card.
If you need some more time to sort your pre-requisites out, not to worry. The window is not closing any time soon so you’ll have plenty of opportunity to get everything in place.
As a reminder, we’ve listed out the re-licensing criteria below. To read more about each one, including what to do if a specific pre-requisite has expired, simply click on the plus sign to access the drop down information.
As a coach, you may be required to respond to a range of first-aid scenarios during a season. It’s important, therefore, that you have the confidence to manage these effectively.
To support this aspect of your role, we ask that you maintain a minimum of an in-date FA Level 1 Introduction to First Aid in Football (IFAiF) qualification. They’re run regularly through your County FA and are valid for three years once you’ve completed it.

If you’re unsure about whether you need to renew your FA first aid training, you can check your My Training account or the qualifications section on the back of your 2018/19 licence card.
It may also be possible to use a non-FA First Aid certificate to renew your FA first aid training, which you can find out more about here.
If your FA first aid training is set expire during the 19/20 season, you’ll unfortunately become unlicensed until you renew it. Once you’ve done that, you can order your replacement card for £5.
Every player has the right to enjoy their football experience in a completely safe environment.
The key to that will be you. As their coach, you need to have the skills to create safe training and matchday experiences. And, at the same time, you’ll need to be able to spot any warning signs, know how to respond, and then provide the right levels of support.
It's why we ask that, to be FA licensed, you have in-date FA Safeguarding Children training.
This qualification expires every three years. If yours is more than or nearing the three-year limit, you can renew it by completing our online re-certification course here. You can find your qualification expiry date on your My Training account or the qualifications section on the back of your 2018/19 licence card.
And if it expires during the 19/20 season it means you’ll unfortunately become unlicensed until you renew it. Once renewed, however, you can order your replacement card for £5.

Already have one? If it’s less than three years old, you can use it right now as part of your application for a coaching licence.

As an FA licensed coach, we want you to always be thinking about your learning and development.
We want you to be the best coach you can be, and so opportunities to pick up new skills, reinforce existing ones, and to connect with other coaches is a key part of being licensed.
If you’re an FA Level 3, 4 or 5 coach, this is also a mandatory aspect of maintaining your UEFA licence and so you are required to have completed at least five hours before you can renew.

If you’re an FA Level 1 or 2 coach, this isn’t a mandatory requirement to renew - but we encourage you to explore our range of CPD opportunities that can make a real difference to your coaching.
Good news is, this window isn't just for FA licensed coaches to renew their licenses - it's also a chance to sign up for the first time.
The process is the same and you'll need to make sure you meet the same criteria, and that's it.
