2006 World Cup Second Round
4pm (BST), Sunday 25 June 2006
Gottlieb-Daimler-Stadion, Stuttgart

John Terry hailed England captain David Beckham after his wonder strike on the hour saw his side safely through to the quarter-finals in their 1-0 win over Ecuador.

The Chelsea defender believes Beckham leads from the front and praise his hard work as well as his all round performance.

And although Terry feels the England side are growing in confidence as the tournament progresses and the Three Lions he admits there is still much more to come from the team.

He said: "He has been banging them in all day in training. It wasn't just his goal, but also the work he put in because even in the last five minutes he was tackling back.

"Everyone looks at his free-kicks and his passing, but it is his hard work he does for the team that sometimes goes unnoticed.

"It is pleasing to get though to the next round. It is very positive that we are through to the quarter finals and we are still not firing on all cylinders - it is very encouraging."
