Sven-Goran Eriksson was delighted with his side's display after they eased into the last eight of the World Cup with a comfortable 1-0 victory over Ecuador.

Although England were rarely troubled by the South Americans, Eriksson believes that the best is yet to come from his side as they continue to chase the biggest prize in football.

And he is hopeful his side can go one better than the last World Cup in Japan where his side were beaten 2-1 by Brazil in the quarter finals.

"We are very happy," said Eriksson. "We are through to the quarter-finals of the World Cup again and I hope that we have a better result in the quarter-final than we did in the last one.

"We are into the quarter-final and we still haven't performed as well as we can do, but I am sure that will come later."
