How Long In The Role: Nine Years – 1997 World Cups: Two – 1998 & 2002 European Championships: Two – 2000 & 2004 Career Background: Formerly a press officer with Middlesbrough FC Favourite Memory: After attending a European match with Sven in Lisbon, being joined for dinner by Eusebio and two other former Portugal captains. An amazing night for a football fanatic. Favourite Game: England v Argentina – World Cup 1998 – Despite losing, the game had it all. Quirkiest Experience: Holding a press conference in seven Japanese cities during a week ahead of the 2002 World Cup. I didn’t understand a word and had to have everything interpreted – talk about lost in translation! Team Support: Middlesbrough

Fondest Memory: Beating Scotland at Wembley during 1996 – in fact, that whole period with the team at Burnham Beeches was fantastic. Favourite Game: As above, plus England v Holland Quirkiest Experience: Singing the national anthem on match day for the Japanese organisers at the 2002 World Cup to make sure it was the right one! Team Support: England, Charlton Athletic as a child Other: I had always wanted to work in football since the age of eleven; I have worked for six [full time] England managers.

Now work directly for The FA. Fondest Memory: Atmosphere on the pitch at Euro ’96 and defeating Argentina in the 2002 World Cup. Favourite Game: Euro 2004 victory over Croatia. It was my fault but we laughed about it afterwards! Team Support: West Ham
