The match will be held at Matchroom Stadium, home of Leyton Orient FC, and will be televised live by Sky Sports. This will be the inaugural Community Shield match under the new name, following on from two charity matches played over the last two seasons.

In 2000, Arsenal and Charlton Athletic shared the trophy, while Arsenal beat Doncaster Belles 5-2 in front of Sky cameras last season. The Gunners will be hoping to take the trophy for another year when they meet their rivals for the league championship this season.

It will be the third key women's game held at the Matchroom Stadium, Brisbane Road, after the England team played there in September and November 2000. After beating Finland in a friendly, Hope Powell's team went on to beat Ukraine in the second leg of the play-off to reach the 2001 European Championship Finals, in front of a record crowd of over 7,000.

The record stood for over a year and The Football Association is hoping that local football fans who attended that game will turn out to see this event.

Leyton Orient Chairman Barry Hearn commented: "It's a great honour for the club to be asked to host this match and it's one we're delighted to do. As well as being great for the local community, it should be an excellent match too. We hope it's as successful as the England Women's games we hosted recently."

The match will hold an added meaning for ex-England striker Marieanne Spacey, who recently joined Fulham in a shock move. The forward decided against her decision to retire from the domestic game to leave Arsenal for the chance to play professional football.

Arsenal and Fulham are two of the best teams in the Women's top flight, the National Division and should, therefore, provide a great showpiece for the Women's game. The two sides will actually meet in the FA Women's Premier League two weeks later, on August 25th, in their first league meeting of the season.

Tickets for the game will be priced at £3 for adults, £1 for children and £5 for a family ticket (for up to two adults and three children).
