Arsenal continued their defence of the League Cup with a thumping win in the South-West, while Everton made another long journey worthwhile as they traveled to London to knock out West Ham.

Vic Akers's side progressed to a quarter-final League Cup tie at home to Chelsea, after winning 11-1 at Southern Division Newquay. Rachel Yankey and Jayne Ludlow saw the Gunners two up in 20 minutes but Helen Wood replied before Ludlow and Lianne Sanderson took in to 4-1 at half-time.

Ludlow, Yankey and Sanderson all completed hat-tricks in the second-half, with Lizzie Wicks and Faye Marsh adding a goal each.

Everton also progressed thanks to a powerful display in the capital, with a spell of three goals in 13 minutes before the interval putting the Merseysiders on top at West Ham, Fara Williams netting either side of an Amy Kane effort.

Jody Handley added a fourth just after the hour mark, with the Hammers forcing a last-minute consolation through Katy Ling. Everton now host Sunderland in the quarter-finals.
